iPhone screen replacement

the wife dropped her iPhone earlier this week and shattered the screen. i looked at the state of our current contracts, and it would’ve been over $350 dollars for a new smart phone without a plan subsidy. so i ordered a replacement screen for $119 and set about repairing it myself. it took a few hours (mostly due to the cats wanting to assist and knocking things around, and then crawling around searching for the three screws that popped out of the tweezers), and my stress level went through the roof due to the afore mentioned help of the cats.

i’d do it again though, with the lessons learned and having been though the exercise, i could probably do it in ~45 minutes.

this photo is from a point about 1/2 way through the disassembly process.

I wish I could have fixed mine this easily…

I purchased the replacement screen from iFixit and followed their guide. I probably could’ve still gotten it done without their guide, but would probably have had a few screws left over.
